iWoofu is built by pet parents, for pet parents. We believe your pet's health data is private and personal — and we've designed the app so that almost all of it never leaves your device.
1. Who we are
iWoofu is a pet tracking application available at iwoofu.app. If you have any questions about this policy, email us at hello@iwoofu.app.
2. What data we collect and where it lives
Short version: Your pet's records (health logs, medications, appointments, training, notes) are stored only on your device in your browser's local storage. We never see them, never store them on our servers.
Data stored on your device only (we never see this):
- Your pet's name, breed, weight, date of birth, profile photo
- Health and medication logs
- Vet visit records
- Appointment and reminder data
- Training progress, shopping lists, pet sitter notes
- Daily journal entries
- App preferences (currency, notification settings)
Data collected by Firebase Authentication (Google):
We use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to manage sign-in. When you create an account or sign in with Google, Firebase collects:
- Your email address
- A unique user ID
- Authentication tokens (stored securely by Firebase, not us)
- Sign-in timestamps and device metadata (managed by Google)
Firebase's data handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Data we receive when you contact us:
- If you email hello@iwoofu.app, we receive your email address and message content in order to reply to you.
3. How we use your data
- Authentication only: Your email address is used to identify your account so you can sign in across sessions.
- Transactional email: We may use your email to send account-related messages (e.g. password reset links). We use Resend to deliver these emails.
- No marketing without consent: We will not send you marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
- No selling: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
- No advertising: We do not use your data for advertising or share it with ad networks.
4. Third-party services
iWoofu uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — account sign-in and identity management. Privacy policy →
- Resend — transactional email delivery (password resets, account emails). Privacy policy →
- Vercel — app hosting. Vercel may log standard web server data (IP addresses, request paths) for operational purposes. Privacy policy →
5. Cookies and local storage
iWoofu does not use tracking cookies. We use your browser's localStorage to store your pet's data on-device and to keep you signed in between sessions. This data never leaves your browser unless you choose to export it.
Firebase Authentication uses browser storage mechanisms (IndexedDB, localStorage) to maintain your sign-in session. These are essential for the app to function.
6. Data retention and deletion
- On-device data: Remains on your device until you clear your browser storage or use the "Delete All Data" option in Settings. We have no copy of it.
- Firebase account: To delete your Firebase account and associated authentication data, use "Delete All Data" in Settings, which signs you out. You can also email us at hello@iwoofu.app and we will request deletion from Firebase on your behalf.
- Email correspondence: We retain emails only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@iwoofu.app. We will respond within 30 days.
Because nearly all app data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control — you can view, export (via Print Report), or delete it at any time from within the app.
8. Children's privacy
iWoofu is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of iWoofu after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
